Holding on to Dear Love (from someone who has never gone through a relationship)

Others say, “When you find the person you love, hold onto them.”
Some say, “If you love someone, set them free.”
If you have found yourself torn between these two quotations about love, you are not alone. Set aside the consequences and the complications of the thing called love, which is applicable and which is not? As for me, I agree with the first statement.
When you find the person you love, hold onto them. Yes. If you do have strong feelings for this particular person then you should try to keep them as close as possible. Hold onto them even when it demands ignoring your feelings, controlling your emotions and – probably – being a martyr. You want this person to be there regardless the label. Cheer yourself up with the encouragement that something is better than nothing. But if you can hold onto them in a more lovely and convenient way, then love is amazing. You better cherish it because not all love is requited and not all love is nourished.

Keep them in your palms. Pull them closer to your chest. Hold their hand. Wrap your arm around their shoulder. Wear them like a bracelet or a locket. Hold onto them and it’s up to you how. But, please, when it starts to hurt more than necessary, let go. Learn when to stop. It is not about setting them free. It is about setting yourself free.
